Description

Azienda Agricola Scarbolo covers 25 hectars and is located in Spessa, south of Cividale del Friuli, in an area called Colli Orientali. This area has an extraordinary tradition in the cultivation of grapes. Here wines have excellent organoleptic characteristics thanks to the hillside ground, which is mainly constituted of marl (a particular type of clay) and sandstone.

History of Azienda Agricola Scarbolo
It was in 1928 that Antonio Scarbolo, the present owner’s grandfather, moved from Prepotto to Spessa and started cultivating vineyards as a tenant farmer. The original vineyard was 13 hectares. In the 1970s his son Attilio bought the estate from the Hospital of Cividale and now it is Sergio Scarbolo who runs the company together with his wife Gabriella and his sons Simone and Stefano.

The Cellar
Azienda Agricola Scarbolo is run with the most up-to-date technologies and with a special personal care. The estate uses innovative methods and ancient traditions. It is important for a good wine to have a constant temperature in the cellar: thick walls and steel barrels keep the temperature constant in summer and in winter.

The Vineyard
Colli Orientali, where the estate is located, have an exceptional ground to cultivate vineyards. The ground is not over exploited, thus our wines are of a higher quality.

Our products
Azienda agricola Scarbolo has a wide production of red and white wines, both native and international. It is also well known for the production of “vini barriccati” – which age in oak barriques – and of sparkling wines, such as our Ribolla Gialla extra dry.
