Melavì: mountain goodness from Valtellina.

We are over 200 Italian producers of high-quality fresh and processed fruit, joined in one cooperative company: Melavì. Our brand name is a long story of healthy food, sustainability and heritage, told with just a few letters. “Mela” is the Italian word for “apple”, while “Vì” is for “Valtellina”: the alpine area in Lombardia region, between the lake of Como and the Swiss border. A territory that has been devoted to fruit farming since the middle ages, thanks to its mountain climate. And to the commitment of generations of farmers.

We started our first consortium in 1952: today Melavì it is one of the main producers of apples in Italy, with over 20.000 tonnes per year, yet our bond with the local territory continues. Our farms apply low-impact cultivation methods (part of the harvest is certified in EU for organic farming), and products are packaged and processed locally. For customers and users, the Melavì brand represents a high quality and environmentally responsible choice.

All Melavì tasty, colourful apples come from our mountain orchards and keep naturally for long periods: varieties include Gala, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Renetta, Granny Smith, Morgenduft and Fuji. The majority of the harvest is given added value by the “Mela di Valtellina IGP” EU certification.

Melavì is also the authorised licensee for Rockit®, “the world’s first snack size apple”. 3 or 5 shiny red apples in a handy, recyclable pack you can take everywhere: a sweet, natural, treat for kids, commuters, athletes. Blueberries, plums and tasty potatoes from our Valtellina farms complete the Melavì fresh products on offer.

You can feel the flavours of Valtellina also in our processed fruit product range: Because all Melavì branded dried apples, apple juices, fruit nectars and extra-quality jams are made entirely of locally grown fruit, natural ingredients. And nothing else.
