Waiting for the bus is a journey re-discovering the richest Italian craftsmanship in the search of products and material, in which the “Made in Italy” is still a tradition, a search, a passion, a labour of the hands that can transform raw materials into products of great charm born from ancient stories of rare beauty passed down through the centuries. The Wftb catalogue is a contemporary notebook through which it is possible to reach the most remote places of the Italian peninsula. We use artisan knowledge to produce daring and innovative projects respecting the authentic techniques passed down by the local craftsmen. The resulting products are a meeting between piece of design that evaluates traditional methods and innovative thinking, looking to the ethics of production and the overall quality of the project.
The project is in search of an answer to the risks involved in mass production with the desire to protect craft production processes and local identities. A journey that reinterpret local “souvenirs” in a contemporary key. The challenge is to keep the product’s millenary history intact while modernizing the look and the feel, without losing its memory. Know-how as a bridge between past and present. A tradition that becomes design and creates a timeless aesthetic without boundaries.

Milano Set six concentric cylinders varying sizes and height inside one another. Made in Italy, handmade and hand decorated One heart within the other that serves everything, crossing ages and functions. From the largest diameter to the smaller ones everything is contained in a single ceramic object: they are bowls, plates, trays. Cylinders varying in colour and sizes, coming together in a single harmonious composition of different hues: those cold as water for Cerchia Navigli; warm tones such as shades of red for Cerchia Bastioni and neutral contemporary shades of white for Cerchia Circonvallazione.
Vietri Table set. Made in Italy, handmade and hand decorated. This small village on the Amalfi coast is known worldwide for the quality of its hand-painted ceramics. Waiting for the bus combines the excellence of the raw material with the “cornetto”, the horn good luck, the most recognizable local symbol used to ward off evil, reproducing it on a set of tableware.
Caltagirone Vases – containers. Made in Italy, handmade and hand decorated. The ceramic moor’s head are a typical product of Caltagirone, among the UNESCO World Heritage sites. They can be seen on balconies and terraces and at the entrance of the houses, as perfect containers for flowers and aromatic plants. Waiting for the bus has transformed these handcrafted iconic objects into pieces of design, tableware and kitchen containers, which are dishwasher safe.
